Algorithm Update Temporarily Removes LinkedIn From Google Search Results
It appears that a recent Google algorithm update has had a big change for a well-known job searching and social platform. An SEO specialist noticed in the past day that LinkedIn has been removed from the Google search results for a while. The individual tried to find it with the URL www.linkedin.com. They did not find it. They only found the country sub-domains of the site. This individual thinks that the lack of return for the site is a Google error, but they wanted to know what other SEO professionals thought about this situation.
The first person to leave a comment noted that they experienced a similar problem in the past day when searching for particular websites. They also had this happen with a different but well-known URL. Another person added a confirmation that there was a recent large Google algorithm update that has affected a lot of sites. The first person who commented wondered if it was a quirk of the algorithm and if there would be a rapid correction to this obvious failure.
Another commentator mentioned a tweet by the LinkedIn owner, so maybe it was not a Google error. That suggestion got some people discussing how reputation or misleading information might change a company's ranking on Google. Someone else did not know what this was referring to, so they went to go look it up.
A different individual commented about this being a good catch on the part of the original poster. They were curious as to whether or not LinkedIn had noticed that it fell off the Google search engine results. Another person noted that they had the same thing happen to them one time after a Google algorithm update. Their site fell off for exactly 24 hours, then reappeared with the same ranking it had before the update.
Another person added that Barry Schwartz, who is at LinkedIn, stated that it was an error by LinkedIn. They said LinkedIn is working alongside of Google in order to get their issue fixed. It apparently is fixed now. Someone else said their site got a huge bump. For more information click here https://www.reddit.com/r/SEO/comments/gelod4/linkedinmaindomainnameremovedfromgoogle/.
