Your SEO Strategy Could Constitute A Trade Secret That You May Want To Guard">
One of the greatest disappointments for an SEO expert can be the day when they have completely succeed for their client. Of course this success is exactly what you have worked towards, but there may come a day that your client says, "Well, we've gotten what we want. You are no longer necessary." And truly, they may be correct!

You've built an amazing strategy and executed the campaigns with diligence and professionalism. You've given periodic updates where you client asked every question they could think of and - in the end - you've trained them to be your replacement.

So how much of your stategy can you - or should you - keep to yourself?

On the flip side, if you hire someone to do SEO for you and it works well, do you have a right to know exactly what they did? Some agencies and freelancers don't want to give away their secrets because if you could do it yourself, why would you hire them? That's understandable, but what if you want to know if they used white hat tactics? It's different if you want to know if you will get a Google penalty down the road.

Agencies and certain freelancers have automated software which can do the job cheaper and faster than you ever could. Unfortunately, there are freelancers and even some agencies that use underhanded tactics, like buying traffic or backlinks, that make it look like they've done a good job. Unless you pay top dollar for SEO, you probably won't know exactly what's being done. If you pay $5 for more traffic, don't expect an explanation of where the traffic is from.

If you pay for one-off SEO services on a gig site like Fivver, you can see more traffic to your website and hopefully make more money. Naturally, it's better to pay for ongoing SEO services with a reputable agency, but this can cost hundreds of dollars a month. Small business owners often have no choice but to buy one-off services as contracts with agencies can cost hundreds of dollars or month with six-month or more contracts. While you can sometimes get lucky, you usually get what you pay for when it comes to SEO.

In answer to the question, you have a right to know what someone is doing with your website, however; they don't have to reveal their industry contacts. If they get you backlinks, you can see where they are from and decide if they are good links or not. Use your Google Analytics to see where your new traffic originates.
The search engine optimization has matured to the level that some agencies are now listing university degrees as hiring requirements. Let's keep in mind that there are not that many institutions of higher learning offering comprehensive SEO courses, at least not yet; however, some digital marketing degree programs are getting better in this regard. Based on this, there is a burgeoning job market for SEO professionals, and this further means that they have to get used to the idea of getting laid off every now and then.

Topics related to layoffs are being discussed with greater frequency on SEO discussion forums; to this effect, a recent post dealt with a situation whereby a college graduate lasted eight weeks at an agency. We are talking about a first job right out of college, and the dismissed employee was noticing a dearth of job listings for professionals in his new field.

Many of the responses to the aforementioned post inquired about the job candidate's web design skills. The reasoning behind this question is that some SEO practitioners are noticing that agencies now want web designers who can also take care of optimization and managing marketing campaigns. There are many SEO professionals who know their way around web builders and even have enough knowledge to design a new website, but not as many as agencies would like. There are others who have a stronger grasp of search engine marketing, and some who have no real experience on the subject, which is often the case for recent college graduates.

One thing that newly minted SEO professionals should always be mindful of is that this industry does not operates like others. SEO is still many years away from becoming a traditional sector, and this means that "help wanted" ads can come with many caveats. You are more likely to find open positions if you tap into your LinkedIn network; this is because SEO continues to develop in a way that encourages an insider atmosphere. This is another reason why seasoned professionals cannot wait for colleges and universities to produce more SEO graduates; the sector needs to move in a more traditional direction. Whether or not new SEO professionals decide to make Ahrefs their favorite tool will be a matter of personal preference; however, quite a few SEO veterans like to keep it as a backup or for specific projects. Ahrefs is not difficult to learn, but there are not many in-depth courses that delve into bet practices. With this in mind, here are a few recommendations from SEO professionals who work with this tool on a daily basis:

Each new Ahrefs project should be tracked on two spreadsheets. Keywords will be the focus of the main sheet; the other file will be dedicated to tracking the outreach of the project.

The first step should always be to run the target web properties through the Ahrefs Site Explorer feature. The results should be filtered and classified in accordance to their difficulty. Short-term keywords will rank between zero and five. Any keywords that score higher than 10 should be placed on a long-term column.

The next step would be to show clients their main competitors according to the Ahrefs criteria. You need to establish if these competitors are the kind that clients should actually be worried about; in some cases, their regional coverage will not overlap, thus making them less of a threat.

The Ahrefs profiles of main and direct competitors should be evaluated for the purpose of finding out if their SERP ranking has been achieved through inbound links.

Competitors with no significant backlinks can still pose a threat. When such competition is reported by Ahrefs, chances are that the high SERP rank has been achieved on the merit of content or social media strategy; this would require additional investigation.

Content gap analysis is a good way to get ahead of competitors rather quickly. The problem with this Ahrefs feature is that it is not always accurate, which is why many SEO firms and digital marketing agencies prefer to get a second opinion with Moz. For the most part, figuring out content topics that competitors are ignoring can be a quick ticket towards SERP dominance. Here's Why & How To Fix It">
If you feel dismayed when your clients do not follow the strategic SEO advice you so thoughtfully formulated just for them, you are not alone. According to a Twitter poll conducted by a member of a very active SEO online forum, more than half of SEO professionals stated that only about 40% of their clients end up following the advice they paid for. More than 80% of the professionals polled believe that their recommendations are fully implemented less than 70% of the time.

This is a problem because in the long term, if your business is unable to sustain itself in the face of such a substantial discrepancy between what your clients seem to want and what the advice you gave them was actually effective at doing, it is going to come back in uncertain terms This is even true when more than a simple SEO audit is at stake.

The Bottom Line

As dedicated professionals, we are generally here to make sure that our clients' SEO is as effective as possible. It is not just about SEO, and if you don't do what we suggest, you may never see the returns on your investments. The thing is, however, that not all clients are actually able to implement our advice despite their desires, understanding, and best efforts, so we can't really say that there is a bottom line.

As has been previously mentioned, we should not always think of SEO as the end of the road for our clients. It seems reasonable enough, at least if you have a well-established business, but over the years, our clients have gradually seen the impact of SEO on their business become more pronounced. And, over the years, clients have realized that their marketing budget has more than doubled in the span of a few years, making them want less.

In the end, perhaps we should be cutting our clients some slack. They may have very good reasons for not being able to follow our suggestions down to the letter. Getting those organic inbound links may require the work of a PR agency, and this may be something they cannot afford. One reason this might be the case is that "toxic" backlinks continue to be implemented across the web that might possibly lower a particular website's potential for rankings through mere association with them, even if those backlinks are not necessarily that site's own fault.

Of course, Google is set up so that it attempts to penalize all instances of backlinks deliberately set up by the site's owner through surreptitious methods. A logical reason why backlinks worthy of punishment might appear on a certain site's behalf would be that the site owner may have prompted low-quality external domains to set those backlinks up, perhaps by purchasing them.

However, it is an issue commonly faced by site owners everywhere that the backlinks that end up emerging in response to their sites' building prominence in the public discourse will invariably include backlinks from domains that have nothing to do with the site's subject matter. Meanwhile, deliberately toxic backlinks can be instigated by malicious competitors and troublemakers. Either way, this will end up driving up an unwanted "Spam Score" value that will be reported within the popular SEO utility suite known as Moz when it is used to assess a website's current prospects for SERP positions.

There is a procedure available to site owners that allows them to disavow especially egregious backlinks by entering their domains into Google Search Console. However, because backlinks are less significant as methods of influencing SERP rankings nowadays, it is more commonly advised to simply focus one's efforts on creating strong and relevant backlinks in order to have a solid backlink profile to speak of. Moz' metrics will end up displaying Spam Scores with mild percentages at best, regardless of which website is being assessed. Therefore, fully stamping out all instances of spam backlinks pointing to one particular website would not even be possible. These tactics are largely considered "Black Hat SEO," or SEO strategies that search engines find deceptive. They can be used in a "Grey Hat SEO" way that allows you to circumvent the rules to your great benefit, but they are almost always a path to failure in SEO.

Gone are the days when you could hide text to human eyes, but show it to Google crawlers. The AI driven search algorithms are now much more aware of your tricks and games. And yet, the smarter the search algorithms become, the more clever the Black Hat tactics you will find hidden in the depths of Black Hat World.

Keyword stuffing is when you overload your website with keywords or use irrelevant ones to game search engines. It's a useless SEO technique that can get you banned from Google, but some brands still use it.

When you over-optimize your website with keywords, you can use them in the content, meta tags and in the backlink anchor text. Some publishers even used hidden text the same color as the background to add keywords that visitors won't see but search engines will. Other publishers will load the footer with cities they are trying to rank for, such as tree trimming in repeated multiple times followed by a city or town name.

Keyword stuffing used to work years ago, not it certainly does not now. Sometimes, it's hard to write about a topic without using the keyword too much. You need to find synonyms; Google will understand and rank your site accordingly. You should aim for an exact match keyword density of two percent or less.

It's hard to understand why some publishers still stuff their website with keywords, but they do. They may have read about it in an old article about SEO or in a forum where people use black hat tactics. A few rogue SEO agencies or freelancers still use the tactic, since a client can see their site rise in the search results temporarily. The client pays and then the site gets deindexed after the check clears.

Not only will Google ban a site that uses keywords unnaturally, the site offers a poor user experience. Writing to inform your visitors is always better than trying to fool search engines. You'll earn repeat visitors and more conversions when you provide quality content.

Black hat tactics never work long-term. It may take longer to rank well with quality content, but it's worth the effort. You won't have to worry about your site getting banned from search engines.

Of course, this type of link-building is referred to as internal links because those who would follow them technically both start and remain within the same website. As an SEO concern, the significance of links that are confined within the boundaries of a web domain is that they guide both human users and search engines' web spiders to related URLs within that domain. Since search engines' algorithms attempt to award the highest page ranks to URLs that are evaluated as the most useful and relevant sources for specific audiences, internal links allow spiders to both discover new pages and make associations between the linked pages' respective content.

The companies hosting websites representing their brands also naturally have an interest in links that point to their sites but originate from elsewhere on the Internet. In concept, links pointing toward one website are created on another site because that second website's owner sees value in mentioning the first site as a resource of interest to them and their community. The emergence of these backlinks naturally takes place on its own if a website's content is both strong and relevant to the intended demographic, and the quality of the content the backlinks appear alongside can influence the "link juice" those backlinks funnel to the website in question.

Although recent adjustments to Google's concealed algorithms have downplayed the direct role that backlinks have on a website's ability to rank in the highest positions, websites can still find value in stimulating backlink creation. Writing a blog post on an external site as a guest can be useful for not only the backlink but also the opportunity to establish business ties with established players within the industry. One's own website can also voluntarily host outbound links toward external websites to indicate a willingness to form a positive business relationship with them. Furthermore, Google's spiders can recognize a website's subject matter more clearly based on the high-authority external domains it links to. If you want to become an SEP specialist, you never stop learning because SEO constantly changes. Google and other search engines keep changing how they rank sites. You have to must keep up with these changes and how they will affect your clients.

Learning SEO basics does not take long, a month a most with fill-time studying. However, there are many types of SEO, but they all include the basics, like well-written, relevant content and technical SEO. If you want to offer local SEO, you'll have to learn how to build citation. For e-commerce SEO. you'll have to learn how to write unique product descriptions.

It's learning the details of each aspect of SEO that takes a long time. You want your client's site to offer a good user experience, so it has to load fast. This is one of the basic things you can learn as part of Google's ranking factors, but you have to know how to do it. Unless you have a developer to work with, you'll have to learn how to optimize images, incorporate lazy loading and more by yourself. Do you know how to make a site responsive if it isn't? If not, you'll have to outsource the work and delay the client.

The first thing you learn about SEO is Content is King. Maybe you're not the greatest writer, but you have to learn. Even if you outsource the content, you'll still have to be able to recognize stellar content when you see it. You probably won't want to use the client's existing content, since it isn't working out well for the, Clients tend to write about how good their business is instead of how their products or services will benefit consumers.

With SEO, you can never stop learning or you'll end up using outdated methods. Read blogs and keep up with the latest developments during your career. Google promises most sites won't notice changes.

10 Best SEO

Google is at it again. On June 2, 2021, Google released a Broad Core Algorithm Update call the June 2021 Core Update, with another one due next month. July’s core update will be called the July 2021 Core Update. Google didn’t get everything they wanted in time for June’s update, hence the subsequent one in July. While Google claims most sites won’t see an affect, webmaster are still worried. Google’s Danny Sullivan tweeted that sites that see a minor change in some of their content’s ranking will see the changes reversed in July. Updates usually take two weeks to roll out fully.

Google releases algorithm updates all the time. However, core updates only usually happen a few times a year. Instead of a regular algorithm update, which can only affect a small category of results, a core update impacts search overall. Core updates are designed to meet searcher's evolving expectations. Google wants to remain the dominate search engine, and the only way they can do this is to give people what they want. They are getting better at understanding user intent, so while some people see less traffic after an algorithm update, they may see the traffic they get is more qualified.

Publishers are not reporting any changes in ranking so far in forums. It’s too early to tell, but it does not look like there will be a panic like there was with the Penguin and Panda updates. If you have clients worried about the update, tell them you not to expect anything definitive until July. Any recent drop in traffic could result from the holiday weekend that signals the start of summer. Assure your clients that you don’t engage in any shady tactics, so they don’t have to worry. Concentrate on creating new, engaging content in different mediums and everything should be fine. Learn how Google's crawlers enable more sophisticated searches.

10 Best SEO

Google's success as a search engine is owed to the simplicity of both its presentation and its service. The user merely has to type a phrase into the search bar and submit it to generate a list of URLs. Because of complex and ever-changing algorithms that apply whenever Google deploys search crawlers to scan the Internet for new and updated content, its Search Engine Result Pages arrange its countless URLs so that only the most relevant results are shown up front. How it grades pages in terms of "relevancy" is through a process that is largely shaped by the websites' own efforts to optimize their content for the sake of ranking better in SERPs than their competitors. As a result, Search Engine Optimization is one of the most important guiding principles of contemporary web design.

Many kinds of Google users would occasionally have a need to conduct specifically shaped searches that are not possible through simply entering a phrase or sentence in the Google search bar, however. Since Google's crawlers index web pages to the extent that every word and sentence is recorded, it is possible for users to enclose a phrase in quotation marks so that only URLs containing that exact sequence of words and letters somewhere in their content will show up in the SERP. For web authors trying to optimize their sites by avoiding redundant content, this advanced search option is a simple and powerful way to see how many times one's proposed keyword already appears on other sites.

There are many other ways to modify a search query in Google, most of which involve inserting a piece of markup right before the query. If the letter sequence "intitle:" is placed right before a query without any spaces, for example, the resultant SERP will only return web pages that contain those words in their official titles. Prefacing a queried domain with the "site:" markup will return a SERP entirely composed of currently indexed URLs within that domain. These are called search operators, and they allow anyone to search for specific pieces of content within equally specific websites. Google My Business is such an aspect; any kind of commercial enterprise that operates at a local level or has a local presence should have an updated GMB profile that covers all the bases.

You could easily argue that Google My Business by itself can account for more than 50% of SEO efforts for small local businesses. Seasoned SEO professionals will always start with GMB completion and improvement before thinking about other crucial factors such as inbound links. Right off the bat, you should take care of the GMB basics such as name, address, telephone number, website, and hours of operation. Keep in mind that GMB listings can be verified, and this is something that established SEO agencies will work hard to complete.

The GMB sections that require more attention are:

Questions and answers

Products and services

Categories

Business data

Once you get going with products and services, you will want to constantly generate new content such as blog posts, preferably on Google's own blogging platform, and YouTube videos.

The search engines also have many other tools available for your Google Analytics account that can show a complete profile of your business or any other relevant details such as business names and websites. As you can see, in addition to Google Analytics, these tools can greatly help you in building an overall profile of your business.

Now, just as a side note, to ensure that you are on top of any sort of marketing optimization, please sign up for a business account with a good service and provide a few details about your business. You will gain a whole bunch of feedback about all the SEO practices of your business. You can use these data to improve your overall ranking for the next day and keep your business in the spotlight.

Is the program worth the hassles?

10 Best SEO

Even though many web designers say that they would never work with page builder software applications, some of them have no choice but to use them. We are not talking about frameworks such as React.JS, which offer a full catalog of templates; we are referring to applications such as Divi, which sometimes create more headaches than necessary. Divi happens to be very popular despite numerous complaints, but one has to wonder if all the complaints are fully warranted.

The problem, of course, is that Divi developers often take liberties in their application code, but don't take any legal or ethical consequences for it. They decide to add divider boxes at will and change what is written to match their need, even if the result is not correct.

In a nutshell, Divi is a JavaScript file that uses the divider and display classes in the form of a div. The div is made visible by setting "active" property to true, which sets this to false to hide it. When "active" is true, divisors are displayed before active styles are applied to the div and any elements of the page. There is no way to disable divisors by setting "no-divider" to false; they have to be set on the front of the div in order to achieve this. There are very few known exceptions to this parameter.

One of the most common causes of division is lack of data to support a div's display. This can happen when the data is generated on demand and doesn't contain "blank space" of the proper width and height. The simplest solution is to use something like HTML5's renderTarget attribute or a custom template. This attribute returns a window object that will allow you to control how any element is rendered; this allows you to determine where each div is rendered, which is exactly what you want.

In the end, using Divi will remain controversial as long as some web designers prefer alternatives to coding entire projects from scratch. The problem for many Divi users is that they end up writing too much CSS in order to compensate for the various shortcomings. Since the owner of a website most likely does not possess years of insight into SEO-related trends and experience with the various programs used to audit the site, it is also commonly accepted that similarly large sums of money are required to contract the services of SEO experts.

Even so, when the industry the website is trying to make a name for itself within exists broadly in the societal mainstream, a solid SEO strategy might still not be enough to give rise to ideal SERP rankings over the expected course of several months. This seems especially true in the cases of the most prominent countries across the globe, where online competition between businesses based within a larger nation's borders is all the more stiff. In the United States and other similarly competitive ecosystems, performing "requisite" SEO steps without striving to achieve top-tier quality in most areas is only likely to propel local businesses toward viable levels of success.

Since a third-world country likely has a national online ecosystem that is only as developed as an individual state in the United States, however, it is probable that a basic SEO strategy would serve a business based within the foreign country about as well as it would a local business in a state. In other words, even though national businesses based in a country like Sweden might technically strive to service that entire nation, it may still be a lot easier to get a leg up on Swedish competitors regarding SERP rankings than when American businesses compete for the top spots.

The websites of businesses based in third-world countries are therefore unusually likely to get massive increases in traffic once they commit to fulfilling basic SEO goals like researching distinct and viable keywords and optimizing the technical aspects of each page. It is seemingly not even necessary for these particular businesses to establish strong backlink profiles for the sake of further improving SERP rankings. It does not matter if you're looking for your first client or you want to grow your existing business, it's still a challenge. Cold calling is unappealing and buying email lists hardly ever works. You do your own SEO, so potential clients will find you, but it's a competitive business and there are only so many top spots available in the search results. You need to market yourself in multiple ways without breaking the bank if you want enough clients to have a thriving business.

Social media is a good place to land clients without spending any money. LinkedIn gives you access to decision makers, your target market. You can find them and build relationships with them. You can also find their pain points and make sure your content addresses them. It all starts with a professional-looking profile and relationship building. You build relationships by talking about common interests, not pitching your business. If lack of website traffic comes up, it's okay to offer helpful, professional advice. When the person needs SEO services, they will think of you.

Post videos on YouTube about SEO basics. Choose a niche topic, like SEO for dentists, to attract individuals who probably are not trying to learn SEO so they can become an SEO professional themselves. You want leads who are too busy running their business to do their own SEO. Include a link to specific landing page on your site with more information on the topic to help establish yourself as an authority.

Forums and question-and-answer sites are also a good place to build brand awareness about your SEO agency. Answer questions without spamming. Include a short case study, without mentioning the client's name to give a real life example. Include your link to your SEO agency's website, but don't actively solicit business or you risk getting banned.
